During COVID, around 11,000 prisoners were granted early release. 17 of those people reoffended, and 16 of those reoffenses were nonviolent drug crimes.
That’s the finding that this op-ed is reporting, anyway. Now, frankly, I am almost suspicious of a figure that confirms my prejudices as spectacularly as this one does.
